Last week I posted about a new backpack that generates energy while we walk, and now I've got a pair of boots that might benefit from that technology.
Columbia has just started shipping their Bugathermo heated boots which come with built in heating elements powered by rechargeable batteries. The boots are also water proof and made with Columbia's Techlite construction, designed to keep them comfortable and lightweight at the same time.
There is a small integrated button on the side of the boot that gives you control over the heating units, which are said to last from 4-8 hours per charge depending on which of the three warmth levels you set them on. The heating elements rest under food and around the toes, and are powered by rechargeable lithium polymer batteries that can be powered up using an included adapter. When turned on and set to their warmest setting, the boots are rated for -25º F/-32º C. Price for the entire set up? $250 from the Columbia Store.
Combine these high tech boots and their ability to keep your toes warm with that energy generating backpack and you have quite the set-up. Walk all day, with warm fee, gathering energy as you go, and then recharge your boots at night while you're snug in your sleeping bag. All of this gear begs the question though. How long before we're wearing full suits that resemble those that astronauts wear?

Has anyone said anything about them yet cause I know the hand warmers can get too hot at times just wondering if anyone had any "actual" experience w/ these things

I was wondering the exact same thing when I saw them. I have to imagine these can get quite warm too, and being waterproof, having my feet sweat doesn't sound like a lot of fun.
I'll keep my eyes out for a real review, but haven't seen one yet.
